About the PPL theory exam
How many subjects are in the EASA PPL theory exam?
Nine subjects: Air Law, Aircraft General Knowledge, Flight Performance & Planning, Human Performance & Limitations, Meteorology, Navigation, Operational Procedures, Principles of Flight, and Communications. You must pass all nine to qualify for the practical skills test.
What is the pass mark?
75% is the pass mark for each paper. The actual number of questions varies by subject — typically 16 to 50 questions with a time limit of 35 to 90 minutes depending on the subject.
How long do I have to pass all the papers?
Under current UK CAA rules, you must pass all nine papers within 18 months of passing your first paper. Each paper may be attempted up to four times within that period. Plan your study and exam schedule carefully — time goes faster than you think.
Is this the actual exam software used by the CAA?
No. This is a practice tool only. The official UK CAA PPL theory exams are sat at approved test centres. Our questions are for study purposes and are not official CAA content. Always refer to CAA-approved training materials and your flight school for exam preparation.
What else does Pilot Logbook include?
Pilot Logbook is a full CAA-compliant digital logbook with EASA currency tracking, civil-twilight night calculation, simulator kept separate, and one-click PDF exports. See all features or start free — your logbook and practice history in one place.
